The Scientific Platform for High Efficacy antigen design via Robust Integration of Computational Experiments, AI (artifical intelligence) and protein modeLing (SPHERICAL) aims to accelerate the prediction of novel viral antigens with broad viral efficacy. Drawing on the wide-ranging scientific expertise of a large collaboration, we combine multiscale models with intelligent experimental design, data acquisition, and validation to uncover the complex immune response to viral threats.
The Antigens Predicted for Broad Viral Efficacy through Computational Experimentation (APECx) program aims to transform vaccine antigen discovery: first by developing toolkits to design broadly effective antigens targeting entire viral families, and then by evaluating candidate vaccine antigens in clinical trials.
If successful, the APECx toolkit and subsequent product development will demonstrate the possibility of broadly effective vaccines against multiple virus threats and eliminate entire types of viruses that are responsible for causing cancer, autoimmune disease, chronic illness, emerging infections, and potential pandemics.
